NHTSA recall 22V-760 covers certain 2021 and 2022 Sorentos with the 2.5L turbo engine and 8-speed dual clutch transmission. Kia's recall report says a fault in the transmission's electric oil pump can let the car drive for 20 to 30 seconds after a warning, then lose all drive power. Dealers inspect and replace the transmission as needed and update its software, free. Kia also has bulletins for this transmission: TRA111 updates oil pump software on some 2021 to 2023 turbo models for harsh shifts, slipping or no Drive or Reverse, SA526 fixes shifting on some 2022 and 2023 models, and TRA100 checks for clutch judder when creeping.
WE CHECK We check the VIN for an open recall, scan the transmission for stored codes, and road test from a stop, at a crawl and through every gear. We read the records for transmission software updates or a replaced transmission.

NHTSA recall 21V-519 covers certain 2021 Sorentos with the 2.5L turbo engine. Fuel may leak where the high pressure fuel pump pipe meets the fuel rail, which raises the risk of a fire. Dealers replace the pipe, free.
WE CHECK We check the VIN for open recalls, look for fuel and oil wetness around the fuel pump, fuel rail and turbo, and note any fuel smell.

NHTSA recall 25V-649 covers certain 2021 to 2023 Sorentos. The heater and air conditioning blower motor wiring may be inadequate and can cause a fire. Dealers replace the harness and blower motor resistor, free. Recall 22V-703 covers certain 2021 and 2022 Sorentos and Sorento Hybrids and 2022 and 2023 Plug-in Hybrids with a factory or Kia dealer tow hitch harness. Debris and moisture on its circuit board can short and start a fire, so Kia told owners to park outside until it is fixed. Separately, Kia campaign SC298 adds body sealer on some 2023 and 2024 Sorentos because water can get onto the blower motor and make it noisy, slow or dead.
WE CHECK We check the VIN for open recalls, run the fan on every speed, smell for burning, look at the hitch wiring if a hitch is fitted, and check for wet carpet.

Kia bulletin FUE068 covers some 2021 and 2022 Sorentos with the non-turbo 2.5L engine built from July 1, 2021 to June 10, 2022. A direct injection fuel injector can be damaged by fuel with ethanol, causing a check engine light, misfire, low power or no start. If Kia's action CA2505 is open on the VIN, dealers replace all four injectors. Bulletin ENG257 covers some 2021 to 2023 Sorentos whose thermal management module diaphragm can wear out and turn on the check engine light. Kia says there are no driving symptoms with that one.
WE CHECK We scan for misfire and cooling system codes, watch for a rough idle or shaking on the road test, and read the records for injector or thermal module work.

The 1.6L turbo hybrid has several Kia bulletins. ELE285 updates software on some 2021 to 2023 Hybrids and Plug-in Hybrids because oil can get diluted with fuel or moisture on short trips in freezing weather. SA515 flushes inverter coolant on some 2021 and 2022 models that show a Refill inverter coolant message. Emissions campaign SC325 inspects the auxiliary electric water pump on certain 2022 and 2023 models. Kia says a cracked pump can leak coolant into its wiring and can cut drive power. ENG256 replaces a leaking valve actuator oil seal on some 2021 and 2022 models. TRA112 replaces the transaxle on some 2022 to 2024 all wheel drive Plug-in Hybrids that have a rough shift between electric and hybrid power.
WE CHECK We scan the engine and hybrid system for codes, check the inverter coolant level and the oil, look for oil leaks, and read the records for SC325 and the software updates. On a Plug-in Hybrid we road test through the switch from electric to hybrid power.

Recall 23V-027 covers certain 2022 Plug-in Hybrids whose fuel tank may be molded wrong and leak fuel. Dealers inspect and replace the tank as needed, free.
WE CHECK We check the VIN for both seat belt recalls and the fuel tank recall, and look and smell for fuel under the car.

NHTSA recall 24V-287 covers certain 2024 Sorentos. The power steering wiring harness may be put together wrong, which can cause a loss of power steering assist. Dealers inspect and repair or replace it, free. Kia bulletin CHA122 covers some 2021 Sorentos and Hybrids built before July 2021 that make a scraping or rumbling noise when the wheel is turned. Kia says it comes from a small bearing in the steering motor and does not affect steering effort.
WE CHECK We check the VIN for an open recall, turn the wheel lock to lock and listen, and feel for any loss of assist on the road test.

Kia's anti-theft campaign CS2304 covers certain 2021 and 2022 Sorentos that use a steel key and turn-to-start ignition and may not have an immobilizer. These are the cars targeted by the social media theft trend. Kia's software upgrade makes the car harder to start after a break-in. Kia's later program CS2312 offers owners of eligible cars a zinc reinforced ignition cylinder protector, free, through March 31, 2027.
WE CHECK We note whether the car has a key or push button start, look for anti-theft decals and damage around the ignition and steering column, and read the records for CS2304 and CS2312.

Kia bulletin CHA126 covers some 2021 to 2024 Sorentos built from July 26, 2021 to March 28, 2024 that have a vibrating or pulsing feel when braking. The fix is new front brake rotors.
WE CHECK We scan the brake system for codes, check the warning lights, test the parking brake and auto hold, and brake from speed to feel for pulsing.

Kia also extended the warranty on the horn for certain 2021 to 2025 Sorentos and Hybrids and 2022 to 2025 Plug-in Hybrids to 10 years or 120,000 miles from first use, for a horn that goes silent or sounds wrong from internal corrosion.
WE CHECK We check the VIN for open recalls, test the backup camera, headlights, taillights and horn, and note the in service date so you know how much horn coverage is left.

A TSB is a note the maker sends to dealers about a known fix. They are not recalls. We check the bulletins so we know what to look for:
Cold-start noise, drivability, and idle issues for this vehicle. We test for each.
Shift quality and transmission fluid updates. We drive every gear.
Locks, wipers, infotainment, and trim items. Small, but good to know.
Bulletins stay with the maker, so we pull the current list for this exact vehicle during the inspection and tell you what applies.
