Pre-Purchase Inspection Agreement
What the inspection covers, what it does not, and what each of us agrees to before the inspector arrives.
Plain English, not legal advice. This page is written to be read. Have a lawyer review it before you rely on it.
This is the agreement every PPI Auto pre purchase inspection is done under. It is here so you can read it before you book. If anything is unclear, call us before the inspection. Our how it works page describes the visit in plain words.
This agreement is between you, the person who books the inspection, and PPI Auto, the pre purchase inspection service of Supercanic LLC. When it says “we” it means PPI Auto.
You agree to it when you book, when you pay, or when you let the inspection start, whichever comes first. It is here so you can read it before you pay.
You are paying for a pre purchase inspection of one vehicle, done where it sits, anywhere in the 50 states we cover. An ASE certified technician works through our 122 point checklist. Most cars, pickups and SUVs take about 90 minutes. You do not need to be there.
Every inspection includes a computer scan for stored and pending codes and the readiness monitors, a road test at real speeds, tire and brake measurements, photos of anything that matters, a look up of open recalls, a history check, an odometer cross check and a title and lien check.
You get a written report with a pass, a fail or a note on each point, and a plain answer on whether the vehicle is worth the asking price. It usually reaches you the same day, often within a few hours of the technician finishing.
The price is $225 for most cars, pickups and SUVs, with no travel fee inside a metro we cover. Diesel trucks, RVs, motorcycles, boats, classic and exotic cars, commercial trucks, heavy equipment and vehicles built before 1990 are quoted before you book, because the work is bigger. EV and hybrid battery checks start at $225, and you hear the exact price first.
Tests that mean taking parts off the vehicle, like a compression, leak down or combustion leak test, cost extra and only run after you say yes.
Once we set a time, we text you an invoice. You pay it before the inspection. There is no payment on our website.
The inspection is a careful look at a vehicle you are thinking about buying, done by hand and by eye, with a scan tool and a drive. Nothing is taken apart. It is meant to inform you. It is not meant to judge the full condition of the vehicle, how safe it is, or how long it will last.
The report is one technician’s professional opinion of what could be seen, heard, measured and read on that day, at that place.
We do not take parts off, open sealed parts or pull trim, unless you have said yes to an extra test. We cannot see inside the engine, the transmission or the differential, and we make no promise about them, about past repairs, or about problems that cannot be seen.
Most inspections happen where the vehicle sits, without a lift. The technician checks underneath with lights for leaks, rust and damage, but cannot see all that a lift would show.
The scan reads the codes stored at that moment, pending codes, and the readiness monitors. Monitors that are not ready tell us codes were cleared recently, but the scan cannot show what a cleared code said.
Every vehicle that can be driven gets a road test. We skip or cut it short when the seller says no, the vehicle has no plates or tags, it will not run, or the technician judges it unsafe. The report says when that happened and why.
We do not issue smog, safety or state certificates. The history check, odometer cross check and title and lien check come from national databases. They show only what was reported to them. We do not hold the paper title, check it at the DMV, or prove who owns the vehicle.
By booking, you accept that buying a used vehicle carries risk. No inspection finds every problem. Parts that look and work fine on the day can still fail later.
You accept that the report is an opinion based on a limited look, not a promise, and that the choice to buy is yours alone.
The inspection comes with no warranty or guarantee of any kind, written or implied, about the vehicle. A “pass” on an item means we did not see a problem with it that day. It does not say how long that part will last.
Once the inspection is done, the fee is earned and is not refunded. That holds if you disagree with what the report found, if you decide not to buy, if you buy and a problem shows up later, or if the seller sells the vehicle to someone else.
If the time has to change for any reason before the inspection, call us and we send a technician at the new time at no extra cost. A trip where we could not get to the vehicle, like no keys or the vehicle was gone, is covered by our Terms.
If you dispute the charge with your bank or card company after the inspection is done, we will send them this agreement, the report, the photos and the time stamps from the visit. Please call us first. Most questions are answered in one call.
You agree that the report is not the only thing you base the purchase on. It is there to inform you, next to your own test drive, the paperwork and the price. Doing the rest of that homework is up to you.
The report is for you. A lender, a later buyer or anyone else who reads it does so at their own risk, and this agreement gives them no rights against us.
If we make a mistake, the most we owe you is what you paid for the inspection, and no more than $800 in total across all claims, whichever is lower.
We are not responsible for the purchase decision, for repair bills that arrive later, for what the seller told you, for the title or the sale itself, or for lost time, towing, rentals or other costs that follow from the purchase.
Nothing here limits a right you have under the law that cannot be waived by agreement, and nothing here limits what the law says cannot be limited.
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California. A dispute about an inspection goes to the state or federal courts in Riverside County, California. Small claims court is always open to you for a claim it can hear.
Our Terms and our Privacy Policy also apply. If they and this agreement disagree about an inspection, this agreement wins.
If a court finds part of this agreement cannot be enforced, that part is cut back as little as needed and the rest still stands.
This is version 2026-10-17. If we change it, the new version applies only to inspections booked after the change.
