How to Get a Pre Purchase Inspection

One call, and we handle the rest. You do not need to be there.

To get a pre purchase inspection, call us with the vehicle and where it is. We contact the seller, inspect it, and send you the report the same day or the next.

At a glance

  • One call sets it up, about two minutes
  • We arrange access with the seller
  • About 90 minutes at the vehicle
  • Report back the same day in most cases
The Five Steps
1

You Call Us

Ring 951-267-8500 and tell us the vehicle, the asking price and where it is sitting. That call takes a couple of minutes. You get the price before anything is booked.

2

We Reach the Seller

You do not have to arrange anything. Give us the listing or the seller number and we set up access. Dealers and private sellers deal with this all the time, so it is rarely awkward.

3

A Technician Goes to the Vehicle

We travel to wherever the vehicle is, in any of the 50 states. The inspection runs about 90 minutes and covers 122 points, a full OBD scan and photographs of anything that matters.

4

You Get the Report

Usually within a few hours of the technician finishing. It is written to be read by somebody who is not a mechanic, with photographs and likely repair costs against anything we found.

5

You Decide

Buy it, walk away, or take the report back to the seller and negotiate. All three happen every week. The report is yours either way.

You Do Not Need to Be There

This is the part people are most surprised by. Most of our buyers never see the vehicle before the report lands. That is the whole reason to use an inspection service rather than asking a friend who knows cars.

It matters most on a car in another state. Buying remotely is where people get hurt worst, because the seller controls every photograph you have seen. An independent technician standing at the vehicle changes that completely.

What It Costs

$225 for most cars, pickups and SUVs, flat, in every state we cover. Diesel pickups, RVs, boats, exotics and heavy equipment are quoted on the call because the work is genuinely bigger. Advanced tests that mean taking parts off the car, like a compression, leak down or combustion leak test, cost extra. We only run them after you say yes. The full breakdown is on the pre purchase inspection cost page.

When to Call
  • Before you send a deposit, not after
  • Before an auction closes, with time to spare
  • Before you fly out to collect a vehicle you have only seen in photos
  • Before you accept a dealer's own inspection as proof of anything
Common Questions
How do I get a pre purchase inspection?
Call 951-267-8500 with the vehicle and where it is. We contact the seller, arrange access, inspect the vehicle and send you the report. Most inspections happen the same day or the next day.
How long does a pre purchase inspection take?
The inspection itself runs about 90 minutes for most vehicles. The report reaches you the same day, usually within a few hours of the technician finishing.
Do I need to be there?
No, and most buyers are not. That is the point of using us. We go to the vehicle, whether it is across town or across the country, and you get the report wherever you are.
Do you contact the seller or do I?
We do. Give us the listing or the seller number and we arrange it. Dealers and private sellers are both used to this.
What if the car is in another state?
That is normal here. We cover all 50 states, so a car three states away is the same booking as one down the road.
What do I get at the end?
A written report with the 122 point check, the full OBD scan results, photographs of anything that matters and a plain answer about whether the vehicle is worth buying at the asking price.
How fast can you get out there?
Usually same day or next day. If you are bidding against a clock tell us on the call and we will say straight away whether we can make it.
Can you inspect before an auction closes?
Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons people call. Tell us when the auction ends and we will tell you if we can get there in time.
What happens if you find something bad?
You get it in writing, with photographs and what the repair is likely to cost. What you do next is yours to decide. Some people walk. Plenty use the report to negotiate the price down.
